Visiting Florida Shipwrecks For A Fun Filled Adventure

By Eleanor Thompson

Over many hundreds of years people have explored Florida and sometimes settled there. Great Aztec riches were often transported from Spain to Europe and succumbing to various hazards were wrecked along the coastlines of Florida. Shallow shores, pirates and coastal reefs were some of the hazards that left Florida shipwrecks to be found and explored later.

During this time period, many of the ships have been discovered, and divers have brought up some of these treasures. Some wrecks, however, have never been found, and are yet to be located. These sites are popular attractions for both wreck enthusiasts and tourists alike.

There are books and articles written about these many ships and some are filled with more information than others. Maps are also available showing where to find many of these wrecks. Finding and visiting these sites and learning the history behind them can be truly fascinating.

The Urca de Lima, The City of Hawkins-ville and The San Pedro wrecks are among the many wrecks listed on maps detailing wreck sites to visit. Each has a fascinating story to learn about. And many great photographs are available to look at both on the internet and other places to inspire you enough to visit these sites in person.

Gift shops are available for those wanting to take back personal treasures for memories of their visits. Personal photographs of you at these sites will add to the memories. And postcards are available for showing friends and family some of the wonderful things you are getting to see and want to share with them.

There are maps available of where to find these Florida shipwrecks even on the internet. Clicking on one that is interactive can show you pictures of some of the things found there. Diving vacations that include these things can be great fun to visit and enjoy. The hardest part will be which to start with and which one you liked more than all the rest.
