The Reasons Behind The Popularity Of Panama Sportfishing

By Minnie Lowery

Panama is one of the greatest destinations for sports fishing around the world. For that matter, it is a great place to do any other kind of water sports. Panama sportfishing is top of the list not just because its tropical islands are outlined with beautiful beaches, but because this country has a wide variety of marine wildlife. That is because it took the place 3 million years to form, which resulted in constant migration of marine species.

The islands were formed during a period of major volcanic activities in the area, after which is became an isthmus comprised of well over 1,500 islands spread over the sea, forming about 2,988 km of coastal regions. There are about 480 rivers flowing through the smaller and bigger islands, as well.

Once the phenomenon ended, the result was the migration of countless of species of aquatic wildlife between the Pacific and the Atlantic. That migration went on for at least a million years, before the species settled to create a genetic mixing that resulted to the creation of newer species.

That is the reason why this place is the worlds most appealing tourist destination for sports fishers. Avid hobbyists travel from all over the world just to experience for themselves the promised fun and entertainment if they were to go sports fishing in this great place. Sure enough, it was more than what anyone would have expected.
