Minn Kota Talon Anchoring System Takes Pole Anchoring To A New Higher Level

By Mike Relahs

Minn Kota (MK) has introduced its Talon shallow water pole or spike anchoring system. Unlike other brands of pole anchoring brands, the Minn Kota Talon anchoring system is based on an electro-mechanical, rather than hydraulic, design. MK believes this is a significant point of differentiation since it makes its system quieter, easier to install, more durable and quicker to deploy. Like other pole anchors, it is also environmentally friendly causing little to no damage to vegetation on the bottom. Cabelas Talon anchoring system comes with a full manufacturers warranty.

Shallow water anglers will be familiar with pole anchors. They have been marketed for many years now. Thousands of systems have been purchased by satisfied anglers around the globe. They are a well-proven product based on a solid concept that has been tried and tested. Overall, the MK product claims superior performance compared to existing competitors.

Talon allows anglers to quickly and quietly stop and position their boat right where the fish are biting. The system allows anglers to fish more productively without wasting unnecessary time fiddling with the anchor.

The MK anchor brings new capabilities to users, capabilities not supplied by competing pole anchors. Perhaps the most valuable of these new features is a fully automatic Up-Down control directive for deploying the anchor. This capability involves a simple one-touch press of a button to initiate an automatic deployment routine, start-to-end. This one-touch capability avoids the need to hold a button continuously until the anchor is deployed.

Stowing is just as just as easy. It also is achieved with a quick one-touch button press. Talon can be operated from the control panel or wireless remote control pad.

Importantly, the product provides a solid and secure holding power, the most powerful holding force in its class. The exclusive auto drive feature drives the pole into the bottom using a trio of successive drives. Each drive is powered by a stronger force. The aim of this three-hit process is to drive the pole deeper with more grip than any competing product.

A set of LED indicator light panel that estimates, in one-foot intervals, the depth to which the anchor has been deployed. As a safety feature, an alarm warns the skipper if the outboard engine is started while the pole remains deployed.

The Minn Kota Talon anchoring system is available with either a six-foot four-inch spike or an eight-foot four-inch spike. It is available in two shades, black or white. All models come standard with two wireless remote controls as standard equipment.
