A Review of the Akios S-Line 656CTM Reel Sea Fishing Tackle

By Sheena Tack

If you want to experience first hand how magnificent the sea is, the best way to do it is to go fishing. However, being anglers, there is no doubt in saying that the creatures of the sea have more advantage over us! To even the odds to my side, I always make sure that I am using a very functional and versatile piece of sea fishing tackle. Casting into the ocean is more challenging than other types of fishing and this is the reason why I much prefer this activity. I also buy the best gear that my budget can handle from the best fishing gear manufacturers. However, I also have this habit of looking for more budget-friendly models and skipping established brands such as Greys and Daiwa. Provided below is a review of the Akios S-Line 656TCM reel.

Important Features of the Akios S-Line 656CTM Reel Sea Fishing Tackle

I am very proud to claim that this is a solidly built piece of sea fishing tackle that it is made with only high quality components and materials. In exchange to a levelwind which this reel does not have, this model is fitted with a magnetic and centrifugal braking systems. The Akios brand considered the 656CTM as its premium reel. This model has a range of high-end features such as carbon drag washers, stainless steel handle, and durable brass gears. I also like that that this reel lessens the chance of re-engaging when casting through its ultra strong spool release spring. Both its magnetic and centrifugal brakes overrun properly andi ts magnetic brake can be fully adjusted through a chromed knob located on the left sideplate.

More Information About the S-Line 656CTM Model of Sea Fishing tackle

This model has a gear ratio of 5.3:1 and it comes with 3 bearings plus an additional one. At only 124 British Pounds, the maximum capacity of line that this spool can hold is 300yd or 15 mono line. This is one model that I am really confident of because all it takes for a user to realize its accurate and smooth operation is by doing a single cast. Try doing a more powerful cast by backing off the mags once you get the feel of this rod. I don't have any doubts that you will also like the result! I can still accurately cast at a good distance even when I am fishing at a substantial crosswind. Even if the hands are wet, users can get a firm and good grip on its large power handle. I also love the gears' and the drag's smooth operation.

Sea Fishing Tackle: Final Thoughts on the Akios S-Line 656CTM Reel

There's nothing worse than using a reel that runs too fast, resulting in crack-offs, because this wastes both line and time. Thankfully, I had no such issue with the 656CTM, which performed flawlessly, even when I loaded the spool to within 2mm of the lip with 15lb mono. I simply set the magnetic braking on full, and used two brake blocks to ensure safety. Given the performance of this excellent piece of sea fishing tackle coupled with the reasonable price, the Akios S-Line 656CTM reel is a great value for the price.
