The coasts of the United States compete for every tourist dollar they can attract, but for the visiting tourist, the decision is simplified by the desire. If truly leisurely warm relaxation in the sun and surf is the idea, then the sunshine state is the answer. Add to it the thrill of going Key West tarpon fishing and there really is no choice to be made.

No matter where you go, you will have local fishing experts. They will know every nook and cranny of the finest spots on the water to put your hook for the greatest results. Likely they will also have everything you need for sale right with them.

People who fish in the ocean are of two types. There are the ones who arrive at the beach with massive rods and reels ready to take on the great whites of the sea. Equally successful however, are those who arrive with a cane pole and stand in three feet of water pulling delicacies out of the rocky places.

Ocean going varmints are normally larger and fight harder the their fresh water cousins. Nothing is more frustrating than finally getting one on the line only to have it snap your line before you can see it break the surface.

While the professionals seem to have the whole concept of which fish eat which types of bait, the average angler does well with whatever their friends are using. Snoring up worms is a tried and true tradition for lake and stream fishing. In the ocean, the smaller fish caught earlier can be cut up and used for bait as successfully as anything else.

But for those who are determined to make the seagoing expedition as thrilling as possible, then the tip of Florida is the place to go. Setting out to bring in behemoths as large as a fully grown man is a serious endeavor. Key West tarpon fishing pits the angler against an incredible seagoing fighting fish, and they do not have to worry so much about it biting back.
