Sea Fishing Tackle Review: The Daiwa Sealine SL30SH Reel

By James Gill

Whether it's on a windswept beach or aboard a boat in rough seas, sea fishing is my passion. I feel so blessed to live on our island nation, where limitless sea fishing opportunities exist. To take full advantage of those opportunities, I need my sea fishing tackle to be as versatile, strong, and durable as possible. I'm constantly scouring catalogues and the Internet, trying to turn up exceptional bargains, because I'm on a somewhat restricted budget. Mid-priced tackle is what I usually seek. I've recently discovered a terrific reel from Daiwa that meets all my requirements quite nicely. Read on to learn about the SL30SH.

Sea Fishing Tackle: Chief Elements of the Daiwa Sealine SL30SH Reel

For around £75, you can anticipate a fishing reel that's cherished among most sea fishermen. This reel is so sought after that it has a pet name,- "SLOSH" The fishermen's liking for the SL30SH is not misdirected at all because, to me, it possesses incredible strength and ease of execution. It immediately came to me that the smooth operation of the SL30SH makes it perfect for different kinds of shore fishing too. When you run into thick beds of kelp or coarse ground, it performs greatly. I appreciate that the manufacturer's at Daiwa designed the reel in a basic straightforward fashion, particularly with respect to its power-filled high-speed gearing. I've discovered that the SL30SH is very adequate for boat fishing too.

Sea Fishing Tackle: Further Details on the Daiwa Sealine SL30SH Reel

The way sea fishing tackle works, the SL30SH is made with 4 CRBBs (corrosion-resistant ball bearings) for excellent winding power, an aspect which is very essential to me. Its frame contains a 5-point support design for efficiency and hard-wear. Its spool is constructed out of anodised aluminium which makes it more powerful and lightweight. Daiwa has not missed even one feature with this reel. The handle is modifiable for more leverage, and counterbalanced to be very relaxing. Because my fishing sessions are frequently long, I'm grateful for the console. In addition, this reel has a helpful rod clamp, and is priced at around £138, which I really feel is a fair price.

Sea Fishing Tackle: Ending Comments on the Sealine SL30SH

The SL30SH features a short-stroke clutch, along with a grouping of first-rate Daiwa parts like the exceedingly serviceable Power Mesh® ball bearing drive. I am grateful for the Teflon®-impregnated felt drag washers, a not so big, yet necessary part. It has a spool crafted from a long-wearing composite substance, and the gears are super-sized, machine-cut oxidation resistant bronze. The site of the exchangeable 2-position handle enhances cranking power. It comes with a free-spool tuning device, in addition to a centrifugal spool brake. It has a super-quick retrieve ratio of 6.1:1. With every turn of the handle, the SL30SH retrieves 35" of line, and it's weight is approximately 17 ounces. Here is the line capacity: 490yd of 14lb test, 295yd of 20lb test, and 235yd or 25lb test line.

For a sound, reliable piece of sea fishing tackle, I'm pleased to recommend the Daiwa Sealine SL30SH reel.
