A Great Place for Fishing Champs

By Yvonne Brixey

My husband is a fishing nut and he loves Michigan fishing. According to him, Michigan and the Great Lakes is THE place to go if you want to catch trout, walleye, or salmon. He would seriously spend all his time fishing those Great Lakes of Michigan if I would let him. He talks all the time about the Michigan fishing memories he's made while boating that water and Fishing Lake Michigan.

Now I know that some of you reading this article are unfamiliar with Michigan fishing and all the wonders those lakes have to offer. Well, lucky for you, I have learned from my husband who just so happens to be the master at fishing lake Michigan. The Great Lakes of Michigan are some of the best Michigan fishing places to find trophy sized fishes, such as trout and walleye. In fact, Lake Michigan is the sixth largest lake in the world and this Michigan fishing spot offers limitless varieties of fish, including rainbow trout, brown trout, and lake trout.

Now if you are planning on doing some Michigan fishing, make sure you bring a detailed map of the Great Lakes. This is important to remember when Michigan fishing because the Great Lakes borders states other than Michigan and as you know, different states have different fishing regulations so you need to know which state's lake water you are fishing in. My husband's personal favorite of the Great Lakes is Michigan fishing in Lake Michigan.

One crucial tip to consider when doing some Michigan fishing is to make sure your hook is as sharp as you can get it. This seems like a silly, obvious tip to include but it is actually, believe it or not, something that is frequently overlooked by supposedly skilled fish catchers. These lakes are swimming with fish and the Michigan fishing water is so filled with trout and walleye you can hardly believe it. But you're not going to catch a thing while Michigan fishing if your hook is so dull the fish don't get caught. Just saying.

Another useful tip to consider when Michigan fishing, particularly when fishing for salmon, is to use colorful lures. These fish thrive on bright, colorful foods and the colorful lures attract these lake fish beautifully. Just ask my husband! His last Michigan fishing trip brought back the biggest fish he had caught to date! And because he decided to go for bright colorful lures instead of dull browns and grays like in years past.

One final tip I will give all you Michigan fishing and wanna-be anglers is this: have fun! Fishing is an awesome activity and what better way to get some quality time with the great outdoors! What good are those trophy sized fish going to do you if you were grumbling and complaining the entire time you spent fishing and trying to catch them? Fishing is supposed to be relaxing, yes, but more importantly, fishing is meant to be fun! Michigan fishing is a fantastic way to spend the summer and your friends will surely be jealous of all the trout, walleye, and other fish you caught doing some Michigan fishing on the Great Lakes of Michigan. A Great Place for Great Fishing
