Sea Fishing Tackle Report: The Fox Stratos 12000 S Reel

By Ray Milidon

I have to say: The sea just mesmerises me. Even though this attraction has always been there; I have not had the chance to cater to it through fishing except in just the last few years. Something gets my adrenaline going when it comes to having a habitat of the ocean insistently take my lure or bait. It thrills me to be oblivious at first as to what species of fish is on my line-next comes the intense struggle! At this point, I am out on this windy beach, embracing a powerful relationship from my counterparts from the depths of time. No matter if I am pursuing a fish for eating, or if I am just fishing as a sport, it is so exciting to me. We current time fishermen, however, are privileged to have an outstanding array of sea fishing tackle accessible in a countless number of types, layouts, and price tags. One of my favourite fishing reels is the Fox Stratos 12000 S. Read further for more information.

Sea Fishing Tackle: Key Features of the Fox Stratos 12000 S Reel

I welcome the fact that this 12000 S is designed with a small-sized anti-reverse which helps it avoid getting knocked, particularly if there is a big, aggressive fish on my line. A test I read on it is one of my reasons for purchasing this fishing reel. This reel was put in to saltwater for one week so that they could see if there were components which would deteriorate or oxidize. When the test was over, they found that it needed an extra seal on the large-sized front roller bearing. The remainder of the reel operated remarkably. Because I am pretty tough on my tackle, I was rather pleased with these test results.

Sea Fishing Tackle: More Facts Regarding the Stratos 12000 S Reel

This 12000 S weighs in at just 670g, and has a 4.5:1 gear ratio. There are 11.2 oscillations per stroke, plus is has a saltwater-deterrent, light body made of graphite. It performs very efficiently with 13 stainless steel tactically positioned ball bearings; this exceeds the number of ball bearings on the rivals' sea fishing tackle.

The standard alloy spool is fitted with a guard to prevent grit intrusion, a feature that's important for keeping the reel in top operating condition. The 12000 S features 10 clutch disks and 2 shims. It's not fitted with line reducers, and the spool is not the push button type. There's also not an included spare spool. Despite these minor shortcomings, this reel continues to be one of my favourites.

Sea Fishing Tackle: Conclusion Regarding the Fox Stratos 12000 S Reel

The excellent piece of sea fishing tackle features a long single handle that delivers superior cranking power during the fight. With a neoprene spool band and a spool clip that's longer and wider than most, this reel is equal to just about anything I encounter. There's also an oversized roller bearing, and a stainless steel main shaft. I've always been partial to fishing gear from Fox because it offers an optimal combination of price with performance. I'm happy to recommend this quality reel.
