Find The Best Spots With A Fishing Map

By Casandra Newton

Fishing in both the coastal regions and on inland waters in Australia is excellent, despite its being such a dry country. Visitors, unfortunately, will be unfamiliar with the species and conditions, so will usually be unable to find all the best angling spots. Acting as excellent souvenir as well as a useful guide to that part of the coast, a Port Phillip Bay fishing map is a must.

This part of the coast offers some of the best sea fishing in all of the continent, making a visit really worth the distance to be traveled. Keen anglers are sure to be well rewarded, due to the relatively pristine character of this stretch of the coastline. The bay is simply enormous and protected, with lots of excellent angling to be had with no competitive friction between followers of the sport.

As with the fishing elsewhere in the world, seasonality is a feature here, too. But this is more a matter of year-round good fishing interspersed with some truly excellent times. Good catches can always be anticipated, with no real off-season. Although there is a large variety of different species, snapper probably form the bulk of the fish caught, being common all year round.

Knowing which are the best spots can be a problem, as some places which seem ideal may attract very few species. Getting to know the area can take a while, as it is so large, and visitors will not want to waste precious time on this sort of activity. A good diagram indicating the best places, as well as the species which congregate there is an important asset.

Apart from just showing the optimum spots for certain fish, it is helpful if identifying features as well as any dangerous features are also included. No one wants to risk their lives unnecessarily simply through ignorance. Landmarks make it easier to locate the indicated areas in a landscape which can seem very strange to visitors.

Another thing to look for is if the particular state of the tide or time of day is marked. These are both factors which can influence catches dramatically. Wasting a whole day when a spot may be hot for only an hour at the turn of tide, can be a very irritating experience.

The right information facilitates taking advantage of optimum conditions as they occur, improving the chances of success. This makes advance planning to take advantage of the best times easy, too. Different tackle and bait or lures suited to the different fish species can also then be provided, for best results and enjoyment. Proper data assists with good planning and enhanced levels of preparedness, making good catches more likely.

An experienced guide is perhaps the best solution. However, most anglers would prefer to be able to judge the validity of any advice given for themselves, and to take a more active part in any decisions, rather than rely completely on the expertise of a guide. A good quality Port Phillip Bay fishing map with detailed annotations will provide just that extra bit of knowledge to be able to judge the true worth of any decisions.
