Important Factors Believed To Cause Florida Shipwrecks

By Janette Livingston

Many lives have been claimed in accidents that are related to transportation. Oftentimes, these are caused by several attributes. In Florida shipwrecks can be caused by several underlying factors.

Several contributing conditions have been cited by many authorities to have brought about the fall of many great vessels in the high seas. These factors include navigation errors, overloading, poor weather condition during the time of sailing, equipment failure, poor design, and sabotage.

Terrible weather condition has been named the most common cause of the worst sea accidents in our time. Poor weather often brings about strong winds, cold atmosphere, and very low visibility. It is a known fact that strong winds will generate equally strong waves. Oftentimes, this will cause difficulties in navigating and controlling the vessel, and with low visibility to add to the list, an accident is likely to occur.

Navigation error can cause many people to lose their lives in the high seas. Several mishaps have occurred when the crew is not vigilant enough to man the vessel's navigation. Several accidents have been caused by the vessel colliding into masses of rocks, icebergs or even other vessels. Accurate navigation is very essential in having a safe voyage.

There have been several instances as well when Florida shipwrecks occurred because of the unsatisfactory design of the boat. These vessels should be made with the right material since they will need to withstand various natural elements when in the sea. Measures should be taken in making sure that the design can withstand strong winds and wave pressure. Material should be lightweight and durable for easy maneuvering.

It is also very important to keep all the equipment inside the vessel at optimum functionality. They should be well-maintained at all times. There have been accidents noted that were caused because equipment like the hull, the engine, rigging, and anchor did not function properly when they were supposed to.

There were also times when the vessel capsizes not because of natural causes, but by man-made ones. Many accidents have been due to sabotage on the vessel. Once of this is piracy and mutiny. Piracy-related mishaps are caused by outside forces, while mutiny is caused by the people inside the vessel.

Several experts believe that many Florida shipwrecks could be well avoided if the necessary measures and precautions are taken at heart. Vessel operators and owners should at all times follow the necessary regulations to ensure a safe and incident-free voyage. Read more about: florida shipwrecks
