By Patrice McCoy

Many people who love to fish also like to seek out areas that they are not really familiar with to get a different experience. One thing that some want to do is take advantage of the fly fishing Key West residents can enjoy year round. Here a person can fall back into a world that most others never get the chance to experience. They can book a trip on a charter vessel and go out to find an assortment of fish that can be great fun to catch and delicious to eat.

There are many fishing holes when traveling around the sea coastlines to take advantage of. There are those species that like the deeper waters, then there are a myriad of other species one can catch as they get closer to shore. One can get strapped to a chair, or they can slip into waist deep waters and fly fish the traditional way. With both techniques, they can catch the same kind of fish for either sport, eating, or both. If a person snags something that they do not know how to prepare for dinner, they can ask the guide who will probably have a number of recipes for one to choose.

The shallow waters offer a number of good game prey. There are the mighty tarpons who are well known to give a good struggle that will challenge even the most avid angler. One can catch barracuda, sharks, and bone fish as well. All promise to stimulate the mind and muscle of many fishermen.

Near the shoreline where the mangrove trees walk onto in to the gulf are a few other types of species that people like to try to snare. There are snook, redfish, sheeps head, and the ever present tarpon. The nice thing about being so close to nature is that one can also see the variety of other animals that inhabit these areas. IF the fishing is slow, they can take a moment to appreciate the life around them.

If the marshes are not producing a lot of action, the boat can go into the bay areas and see if there is any action there. This is where one can obtain sea trout, snapper, and blue fish. One may want to take their kids to these locations to get them started on this hobby. This is generally a much safer and secure spot where the winds will not blow like they do out on the ocean.

One should understand that they will normally be out under a burning sun when they take advantage of these opportunities. One thing they might want to have with them are good sunglasses tat will protect their eyes and allow them to see movements in the waves. These movements can signal a fish nearby and alerts them to where they should try to place their lure.

Most of what else a person might need can be found on the chartered boat. They will know what bait to use. They will also have the right poles and lines one will need.

Sometimes, a person needs a break from their everyday life. They may want take a trip to partake in some fly fishing Key West residents can do. They can experience different types of habitats as they search for their prey.
