3 Effective Bass Fishing Techniques

By Hedwig Clement

There's a veritable laundry list of valid comments that each angler can offer as to why they love bass fishing. Not many things are so much fun as you're getting your education in how to be a better fisherman.

You can try to bass fish everywhere in the US and never get to all the locations. Even if you live where it's not so warm, there are still certain types of bass to be found there. But if you really want to go for the big ones, then you'll need to head south, and the warmer temperatures and water are ideal for growing truly big bass. Here are three good tips for bass fishing that you can add to your personal knowledge base.

One very popular bass is the small mouth bass, and there's another name for it which is brown bass. Brown bass are smaller than other bass on average but they still give you a worthy challenge in all respects. But one thing to remember is that they're predominantly in the north where the waters are cooler. But what helps out when angling for brownies is they share qualities with other bass such as the largemouth. That's the cool part about it is you will be able to apply information from one to the other.

Never think that fish are without ways to protect themselves, and as with so many other animals it's their finely tuned senses, like smell. You may have the best bait possible, but if it does not smell right then there's a problem. The various odors you can put on the bait and hook will not magically disappear once it's in the water. Another thing you want to remember is that their sense of hearing is very good because they can feel the sound wave pressure. Continuing on with bass fishing tips and fish, you have to check out the spotted bass because it's a great sport fish. What you have to remember about bass is the are very much the same and where they live has produced the differences you will find in them. Small mouth bass are not as large as the spotted bass, but this type is not the largest by far. But on the other part of the equation, avoid taking them for granted because they're smart fish and you have to approach them with a strategy.

All bass have the ability to recognize you as being a threat because they can simply see you. Think about fishing for bass after a little rain or when the water has been turned up and it's not so crystal clear. Cooler temperature water will be heavier and that helps to keep in clear, and that means bass can see better. Bass are just like all fish in that the environment does have an impact, so you'll need to use it to your favor when you can.

Just like all other forms of fishing, you have to make decisions about what kind of tackle to use. The best approach if you're really new to this is talking to experience bass fisherman and also having patience. No matter what the sport is, you will see some manufacturers that are exorbitant in price while very many are more reasonable. What you just don't want to end up with is something really cheap that will not last long because obviously you'll be spending more to replace it.

There are many things you can learn about the water conditions and bass fishing. This is precisely why so many fisherman go for lakes and things like that. Always do test casting close to tree trunks and the like when you are fishing in moving waters. The local fishing spots will already be mapped out by experienced anglers, and you may have a hard time getting your line in there. Bass fishing requires you to do some studying whether from books, articles on the net, or from the guys at your local fishing shop. The tips in this article are really barely a scratch on the surface, but they're solid and will help you. And never pass up an opportunity to talk to those who know more than you do. But just be sure you can separate fact from fiction as fishermen are notorious for telling whoppers.
